My sister and I made dozens of sugar cookies from scratch, and I decorated them with royal icing, for tonight’s art reception at Oklahoma State University’s Gardiner Gallery of Art. The designs are inspired by Madhubani Painting – painted cloth, hanging in the gallery from the collection of Ron and Thora du Bois.

The artwork for this exhibition will exemplify the mixture of contemporary and traditional printmaking methods. The works are often labeled as printmaking mixed-media for the pieces often start as traditional prints but are then altered into more modern mixed-media pieces.
The works will be mounted on cradled wood as apposed to traditional framing methods. This approach gives the works a more organic look and allows a direct view without the glass.
